I fell in love with storytelling while growing up in St. Charles, Illinois. It encouraged me to study acting at The Theater School at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. While in school, I was awarded the Helen Kinsella and Sarah Siddons Scholarships for excellence in acting. Since earning my B.F.A. in Acting, I have primarily worked out of Chicago's prestigious theater scene, working at the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Court Theatre, TimeLine Theatre, A Red Orchid Theatre, the Marriott Theater, Paramount Theatre and Theater Wit. I am an ensemble member of American Blues Theater, where I have performed in over 5 Jeff Award winning productions.
In addition to stage, I have worked in TV on NBC's Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, as well as FOX's Empire and APB. I am a voice actor, currently developing an audio series with my wife, Shannon Pritchard. And I am an accomplished jazz and blues pianist, currently developing my own cabaret series, Piano Man, honoring and performing the music of Billy Joel.
This last year, I started my own education studio. Visit my website ianpaulcusterstudios.com for more info!
As an actor, I have been working on-line with American Blues Theater, MPAACT, and with Rohina Malik on her play Layla in LaLa.
I also recently began production on an independent podcast series that I co-wrote with my wife, Shannon Pritchard.
